Lors de ces funérailles, pas une larme n’a été versée, pas un pleur n’a coulé. Et pourtant ils étaient plusieurs milliers à assister à la cérémonie. Mais il s’agissait en fait d’enterrer des ossements retrouvés lors de fouilles effectuées à Jaffa sur le site de construction d’un futur hôtel Eden. Cela faisait plusieurs années que des manifestations étaient organisées, en Israël et aux  Etats-Unis pour dénoncer la désacralisation de ce cimetière retrouvé lors sur la colline d’Andromeda. En juin dernier, plusieurs policiers avaient même été blesses lors d’affrontement avec des opposants au projet de construction de l’hôtel sur un cimetière. Voici quelques photos.

Ultra-Orthodox Jews gather around boxes of ancient bones that were just covered by a Jewish prayers shawl, or 'talit,' as a mass prayer gets underway in the Mea Shearim neighborhood in Jerusalem to bury the bones on 28 March 2011 according to Jewish tradition and law. The bones have been unearthed during archaeological excavations in Jaffa, just south of Tel Aviv, and have been the cause of protests and clashes over what the Hassidic calls the desercration of ancient graves where a luxury hotel is to be built..
